“I’ve had the pleasure of skiing with Mark over the years in Telluride and I can attest to both his professionalism and focus on safety but most importantly having fun and making lifetime memories with my family, friends, and colleagues. He always keeps things light hearted but takes his role as your guide and keeping you safe a top priority. This year he told us about the new lodge in Iceland and let me tell you that he did not over sell but indeed over delivered on his promise. It was a first class experience all the way and having Mark there to line us out and see to it that our every need was met was priceless. When you’re on vacation and spending your vacation time with a guide, it’s important that you get along and that the guide fits in with your group. Mark is a guy that feels like he’s part of your group not just there to guide you. He’s funny, genuine, smart and courteous which is important to me when committing to spend so much time together in the middle of nowhere. I look forward to many more adventures all over the world with Mark and GlobalPowderStoke!" -Austin Herzog

“We first met Mark in the Uco Valley, Argentina where he was guiding another group of heli skiers from Telluride. We clicked with all of them and became friends and ski buddies. Since then, Mark has guided us on beyond-awesome heli ski trips in Telluride and Iceland. It is one thing to book a trip and be assigned a friendly guide, but a totally different experience if you know exactly who you are working with. Mark has proven his professionalism, always making us feel completely safe, knowing our skiing abilities and exactly how much he can push our boundaries. Mark is an inspiring personality because he’s always followed his heart and done the things in life he is passionate about. How many of us can really claim that? Mark is not just a guide who we trust our lives with – he is also an easy-going friend who we have great fun with, and that makes all the difference." - Lynn and Urs Raebsammen

"I have heli skied with Mark as my guide at Helitrax for the past 6 years. Mark is an exceptional heli guide who has a passion for skiing, guiding and safety. Our trips have always resulted in amazing snow, lots of vertical and skiing that fits our group’s abilities. We have had some of the most epic ski trips with Mark enjoying the backcountry and his knowledge of the snowpack and terrain, and putting together lots of turns. Our group’s trip started as a one-time event and continues annually as we enjoy hanging with Mark in the backcountry skiing fresh tracks! "– Brian Medley

I first met Mark when he guided a group I was in for Telluride Helitrax. Since then, he has been my guide for many more days with Helitrax, heliskiing in Iceland's Troll Peninsula and Argentina's Andes, and backcountry ski touring in British Colombia and all over Colorado's San Juan mountains. He has guided me to amazing spots and taught me so much. And he has kept me safe. He is a blast to hang with and I am proud to consider him a friend. - Mike Mayer

Mark is a world class ski guide. His infectious joy of the mountains and love of skiing makes heading into the untracked terrain with him great fun. His skill at quickly assessing clients’ abilities and what experiences they are looking for is unparalleled and he communicates clearly and sets the expectations appropriately depending on snow conditions and the group he is leading. Whether it is powder or corn, mixed conditions, what have you, he expertly finds how to make the most of the terrain and give his clients appropriate challenges, and if need be, how to get them to rise to the occasion. What makes him quite unique, however is that while having a great day out, he unfailingly balances it all with safety first—his deep background in avalanche forecasting and thousands of hours out in all sorts of snow and terrain leaves you confident that you are in good hands with him. His level of fitness and skiing ability are also matched by few guides— jumping into steep couloirs or doing a long day breaking trail in the up-track ski-touring are simply par for the course. Finally, when you are done for the day, he also is the kind of guy with whom you very much would enjoy sharing a few laughs over a beer or a glass of wine, building great experiences and memories. - Trond Skramstad

Mark is the consummate guide when it comes to heli-skiing. He is so much fun to be around with such a warm and humorous personality, yet at the same time he never compromises your safety…you feel that. He will push you a bit, but never beyond what you are capable of, so it’s always a true adventure to remember. He is also excellent at helping to coach you, if desired, with small tips on form, gear, or nutrition. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to terrain, snow conditions and weather, providing for the optimal ski experience regardless of overall conditions. Whether you are brand new or a very experienced skier, male or female, young or old, Mark is the guy you want to go out with. - Mike Brochu

"Mark is one of most competent guides I have ever skied with. Most importantly to me, his focus is first and foremost on safety and mitigating risk. I also appreciate his unique ability to assess the constantly changing conditions in the backcountry. Mark brings over 30 years of backcountry experience, a MS in snow science, and the perspective of someone who was a professional avalanche forecaster for years to his guiding. Beyond that, ski days with Mark are always packed with fun." – Jesse Johnson
